Hot Chicks Vote Republican!

.

Last week, we heard that Republican Vice Presidential Running Mate Sarah Palin was coming to Troy to speak at Hobart Arena. Needless to say, I was pretty jazzed at that! So, I went and waited in line to get tickets. Daniel didn't have school that day, and he went with me. What a little trooper he was! We were able to get tickets so that John & I could go, along with Daniel, (again non-school day) and my friend Buffy. I went to wait in line at 7:00 a.m. and about froze all of my extremeties off! By the time the doors opened, I couldn't feel my toes! Regardless, I am so glad that I went early, because I was able to get all 4 of us seats, and the other 3 didn't have to wait in the frigid temps outside! While I waited, I chatted with other fellow Republican women and purused the campaign button selection. I remember the first election I was able to vote in, my mom got me a campaign button to commemorate the occasion. I remember thinking that was pretty cool, so each election year, I get a few. There were so many that were cool! I ended up getting a traditional McCain/Palin button, but also a few others that made me giggle. One said, "Hot Chicks Vote Republican", another was "Republican Women are the LIFE of the Party!" Hillarious! Another had a pair of American Flag high heel shoes, and said something about "Change is Coming". I got John a few that completely cracked me up, my favorite of his said, "Annoy a Liberal==Work Hard and Be Happy!" Hee hee! There was even one for Daniel that said, "Kids for McCain". He was totally in the spirit! While I was browing the campaign buttons, a local reporter snapped my picture, and then asked me to tell him why I was here supporting Sarah Palin. Why I thought she was a good candidate to lead our country. More than happy to give my opinion, I gave my answers, and then the next day I was featured on a page in the local newspaper. Such a celebrity I am! LOL! We were let in at about 9:30 in the morning, and Sarah didn't speak until 1:00 p.m.! But, the local Troy High School Marching Band was there, and played throughout the morning. Daniel brought his dot-to-dot book and colored. We got a snack, and time went really fast.

We heard a few local Republican speakers first, and then, we got a real treat! Country singer, Tracy Lawrence, came out and entertained the crowd with a few songs!!! He sang my favorite of his too, "You Find Out Who Your Friends Are", along with others. WAHOOO!!! What a really great surprise! Buffy and I really enjoyed that part, I think! The day was wonderful!

Finally, Sarah Palin came out with her cutie husband, and 2 of their daughters, Piper & Willow and spoke. She was very good, and I was proud to be supporting her. I will be glad to support her come election day as well!
