Fall Family Fun at Brumbaugh's Fruit Farm

What could be more fun, than apples, hay, pumpkins, and beautiful weather? A day at Brumbaugh's Fruit Farm! John & I took the boys here last weekend for an afternoon spent together as a family, just the 5 of us. It's been a while wince we did something like that. It was a really pretty day, too. Cool, but sunny and not too cold! We got to Brumbaugh's and did the kiddie corn maze, which was great for little kids like Daniel. They had "clues" to get you through the maze. If you answered correctly, you got out pretty quickly. The kiddie clues were like what is 2 + 2 and one answer pointed left, and the correct answer "4" pointed right. Daniel loved that he got all of the answers correct! I liked it because I didn't get stuck in the corn maze! We did the 5 acre corn maze too, which is geared for much older kids and adults. They had trivia at each stop, but no "help". You answered the question, and either were right or wrong. Lucky for us, we all like Trivia, and we didn't flounder at all! After that, the kids burned off some energy playing in a building FILLED with hay piles. We are still picking hay out of our car!! But, it was fun to watch them wrestle, jump and have a great time! Instead of a traditional sand box, they had a dried corn kernel box. Daniel had a lot of fun playing in there, though he couldn't quite figure out why his "castle" didn't stand up like his sand one's usually do! hee hee!!! There were monster slides, that were HUGE made out of black pipes. The kids loved sliding down that. They kept going and going and going again! We went to the apple picking building, and learned about how they pick the apples, clean them, shine them, harvest, package, and finally USE them in various things. It was really interesting, even for John and I to see how their process worked. Brumbaugh's grows over 27 varieties of apples just at their one place! We went on a mini hayride too around the farm. Fun! After a lot of playing, and mini ziplining, etc., the 5 of us got a
small container of freshly pressed apple cider. The man at the apple demonstration said that Brumbaugh's cider is a bit sweeter than some because they put just a little bit of pear in theirs. It was YUM-O to say the least!!! At the end of the day, we ended up going into Brumbaugh's bakery. The smell was divine! They have the best apple fritters around. Daniel couldn't ever say fritter and he always calls them "Apple Critters". So funny! We waited in a pretty long line, which ended up being horrible, because we bought a TON of yummies! LOL! John got a double dutch apple pie, the kids got cookies, Noah got a cinnamon roll, and I got the best darn apple dumpling I have EVER had in my life! Oh yeah, we did get the apple fritters too! It was such a fun day, The boys played so hard, that Daniel & Jackson weren't even arguing for once! In fact, I snapped a priceless photo of them asleep in the car! This is definitely one day we will all remember for quite a long time to come!
