A Hillarious Event

One of my favorite moments on our recent trip to Arizona is one that made me laugh, and laugh, and laugh. The ironic part is.....I wasn't even there when it happened! On the day before Easter, Suzanne, Amanda and I went to run a few errands just the girls. John decided that it was time to take the boys to show them this nature trail he refurbished when he was earning his Eagle Scout Award. So, he drove them there and they hiked the trail. They had a wonderful time. Noah got some great shots of the area, as the flowers are particularly beautiful right now in full bloom!
While they were hiking, John was pointing out the different plants, and telling them the interesting stuff about the area, blah, blah, blah. Well, there obviously are cactus of all shapes and sizes there. There is one particular variety called, Cholla (pronounced choy-ah) that is of interest. The thing is, you have to be careful with this cactus, because of it's nickname, which is Jumping Cactus. If you get close, and brush up against it, it has the affect of "jumping" onto your body. In order to get it safely off, you need to use a comb or something to put in its tines. Anyhow, John was carefully explaining all of this to the boys. In fact, when they came upon some, he showed them how it worked, and let it get on his shoe. They thought that was kinda cool, and kinda weird. On the trail they walked, until they saw a jackrabbit. And, not far from that, they saw a birds nest in a cactus. John said, "Hey, I bet if we get closer, we can see the baby birds or their eggs." So, he got really close, FORGETTING what KIND of cactus it was, I guess. And.............got too close................and got the cactus...................stuck............in his FOREHEAD!!!!!! HILLARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Noah was relaying the story for me after they got home. I nearly spit out my drink and began laughing and laughing. I said, "PLEASE tell me you got a picture of that, Noah! Please!!!" He promptly whips out his camera, and produces this..... "I knew you'd want to blog about this, Mom! It was too irresistible to pass up!" What a son! And, this picture makes me laugh out loud every time I see it! Hee hee! Johnny you crack me up!
