While they were hiking, John was pointing out the different plants, and telling them the interesting stuff about the area, blah, blah, blah. Well, there obviously are cactus of all shapes and sizes there. There is one particular variety called, Cholla (pronounced choy-ah) that is of interest. The thing is, you have to be careful with this cactus, because of it's nickname, which is Jumping Cactus. If you get close, and brush up against it, it has the affect of "jumping" onto your body. In order to get it safely off, you need to use a comb or something to put in its tines. Anyhow, John was carefully explaining all of this to the boys. In fact, when they came upon some, he showed them how it worked, and let it get on his shoe. They thought that was kinda cool, and kinda weird. On the trail they walked, until they saw a jackrabbit. And, not far from that, they saw a birds nest in a cactus. John said, "Hey, I bet if we get closer, we can see the baby birds or their eggs." So, he got really close, FORGETTING what KIND of cactus it was, I guess. And.............got too close................and got the cactus...................stuck............in his FOREHEAD!!!!!! HILLARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Noah was relaying the story for me after they got home. I nearly spit out my drink and began laughing and laughing. I said, "PLEASE tell me you got a picture of that, Noah! Please!!!" He promptly whips out his camera, and produces this.....
