Christmas Eve Tradition + 1

The past 2 years, we have begun our own little family tradition with my cousin and her family. Each afternoon, we meet with Tracy, Jason, and the girls, and have an intimate family gathering with just our families. We have a meal, gifts, games, and just enjoying each other. This year Tracy had the wonderful idea to order carry in from El Sombrero so that neither of us had to cook. We just each just made some snacks. I loved this idea! We should carry on this tradition! Easy for everyone involved. We had such a wonderful time visiting, playing cards, and enjoying the Frock's company. I loved that this evening continued to carry on the low-key, relaxed idea of my mantra. So enjoyable. After a wonderful night of fellowship and fun, we go and see some Christmas lights on our way home. The luminarias were beautiful this year.
After we get home, every Christmas Eve, we always let the kids open their presents from us. It is our family tradition that one of those gifts, is always matching pajamas. (It always makes for nice Christmas morning pictures *WINK* WINK*) The kids still seem to be excited about these, even though they get them year after year.
I had been working really hard this year to make some special hand made gifts for my family. For the boys, I created each of them their own personal 5"x8" scrapbook entitled "10 Things I Love About You". Each boys' album was special and unique. Just like them! I was touched, and so surprised at how very much they loved their albums! They kept looking at them over and over again, and savoring the words written just for them.
A new tradition we started this year was that I asked each of the boys if they'd like to select and give a gift to their brothers that was only from themselves. I was pleased to see that each one of them JUMPED on the chance. They got to pick out their present, and I helped by wrapping it. Noah picked a bakugan for Daniel and a Tech Deck for Jackson. Jackson picked Hot Wheels for Daniel and Legos for Noah. And, Daniel, picked books for both of his brothers. And, he was very specific about Jackson's, and even named the title he wanted to get him. The 6th book in the 39 Clues series. My very favorite memory from this evening was this.........

Jackson and Daniel tend to argue A LOT throughout the year. But, Jackson was so touched by the gift Daniel picked and gave to him, he jumped up and gave him the hugest hug and told him how much he loved him!!!! It brought tears to my eyes, and it's a memory I will cherish, always.
