Winter Boots

Today was such a blustery day! It started snowing fast and furious, and started accumulating pretty rapidly. By 10:30 a.m. today, the school called and said they were sending all of the students home 2 hours early in the afternoon. So, Noah was home by 12:30, and Jackson by 2:00 p.m. While Daniel and I stayed home and kept warm today, John had to go to one of his customer's to drop off a job. While he was out, he decided that the boys needed snow boots (nothing like us waiting to the last minute, right?) He called home at one point and told me he was at Kohl's and wanted to buy them these boots, did I know what their exact sizes were? I was a bit annoyed, and said I didn't know that for sure, and since 2 of the 3 boys was in school at the time, it wasn't likely that we were going to get that information today. Later on, he came home with FIVE BIG shoe boxes. I was like, "What in the heck are you doing?" He told me that he had got ALL OF US a pair of winter boots. Funny, as I didn't really need any, and I didn't think he did either. However, he was super excited because he had gotten a pretty good sale on them, and then another additional 15% off! Well, wahoo for you, I was thinking, but I hadn't ever bought shoes for these boys without them there to try them on, and had them fit ALL of them. I always have to take at least one pair or more back to the store. So, I was thinking, "Good luck with that, Johnny Boy!" I told him as much, and he laughed and said, "We'll see. Meanwhile, slip those fluffy slippers off there, Cinderella, because I'm gonna make sure these "slippers" fit you!" He put the boots on, and wouldn't you know it? THEY FIT like a glove! Ugh! And, then he said, "You know, these are totally shoes you'd pick out. They're black, and they zip! So you don't even have to lace them up!" How true that was, but I didn't want to admit it to him! So, Daniel comes in and is excited about the boots, pulls his out, and I thought, "Well there you go! These are WAY too big! Ha! I was right!" I told John I refused to take any of these shoes back. His mistake, his trip to return them! So, Daniel puts them on his feet, and Voila! They fit too! I was admittedly getting a bit annoyed at this point! And, they were kind of cute shoes too! So, then, Mr. Confident tells me, "I KNOW Noah's are going to fit, because that kid can wear MY shoes. So, they're gonna work!" Humph! We'll see! Noah gets home early, and I inform him about the boots. He acts less than thrilled, and ignores my suggestion to try them on. When he over hears me telling Buffy about this over the phone, he laughs, and says, "Oh I get it Mom. This is about you being right! Okay, I'll try them on!" Me? Want to be right? I don't know where he gets these CRAZY ideas! LOL! So, he slips them out of the box, size 13 mens. Never gonna work......slips them on.......THEY FIT!!!!! Oh MY GOSH!!!!! I am practically beside myself at this point! A while later, Jackson gets home. This is gonna be the kid! This is the one who isn't going to fit. So, he comes in and I say, "Jackson. New boots. From Dad. Put them on. NOW!" He is as excited as his younger brother, quickly slips them on and says, "These are GREAT! They fit me perfect!!!" ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????!!!!!! Absolutely amazing! I can't believe his dumb luck! And, that's all I'm going to say on this topic! Beginner's Luck. The End!
