Daniel's Last KG Field Trip

The last field trip of the kindergarten school year was a BIG one for these kids. They did a walking field trip of our fair city of Troy. Included in their stops were: The Post Office, The Troy Daily News (our newspaper), The Fire Department, The County Courthouse, The City Park (to play and for lunch) and then back to school. It was a warm, and beautiful day. All of the kindergarten kids were excited, and did really well. They sure were TIRED though, and most of them had t-ball games later on that night! Here are some pictures of some of the highlights.....
The kids got to see how far a fire truck's ladder can go in the air. AND....they each got to sit in the fire truck driver's seat, and either turn on the lights and sirens, or honk the big horn. What fun for them! And, it was great that it taught them not to be afraid in a dangerous situation or of fireman.
Next, the kids went to the post office and were each allowed to purchase their own stamp from the Postal Window. Daniel felt like such a big kid getting to do that with his own change. They then took their stamps and mailed a letter that they had written to their moms and dads. Plus, they got to tour the entire facility, and learns what happens after they put their letter in the mail slot.
Daniel and Isabella having a fun time at the post office! What good friends they are!!
Playing at Troy's "red park" as our boys like to call it, was definitely a highlight to the kid's day. They got to take a picnic lunch (Daniel and his Maxed Out Lunchable) and then burn off some energy playing on the playground.
The last stop was the public library, where each kid got to get their very own library card (though Daniel already had one!) and pick out a book they could read on their own, since they're beginning readers. That was a nice QUIET activity, NOT! LOL!
All in all, the day was a fun one! The kids got to see so many aspects of our fair City! And, Daniel, well, the next picture says it all. He had a great day, and so did I, getting to help chaperone one of his last kindergarten experiences.
