Our oldest son Noah is in his second year of band playing alto saxophone. He loves it, and is becoming quite involved with the music program at his junior high school. He's even managed to get us involved too! Hmmmmm, who is the band student? hee hee! Anyway, this week the head of the Miami East Music Boosters Club called here to tell us that this group is responsible for working the concession stand at the home football games on Friday nights, as well as home soccer games. All profits from these sales go to the Miami East Band members for trips, sheet music, uniforms, etc. The booth is worked by parents of band students, and would we consider getting involved. Noah was VERY excited to get involved. I, however, wasn't so sure. So, I called to see if when a parent worked, if the band student could work too. Imagine my pleasure when they said, YES they could!!! When the students work, they are what they call "Runners", so I would work the window, take the order, take money & make change, while Noah "ran" to get what their order was. How wonderful! I figured we would just see how excited he was to work a concession stand. Little did he know how much working he'd be doing! I agreed to come help at last nights football game, and that Noah would come along. Noah was so super excited to get to help out! We worked our window from 6 - 11 p.m. And, we weren't slow for one minute!!!! Noah was hopping! Or should I say "running" all night long! I have to admit that I was a little hesitant to do this at first, but it actually ended up being a lot of fun! Noah had fun too, even though we were both dog tired after we were done! It made me feel good to be able to be a part of his activities. We even agreed to work the next 3 home games!
I will also say that another up side to working the window, was that I got to meet almost ALL of the friends that Noah associates with that I had heard of, but not met before. This includes, GIRLS!!!! Oh my!!!! So MANY GIRLS!!!! "Hi Noah!" "Hey Noah!" "HI Noah!" Was what usually preceeded their arrival! Along with their adolescent bouts of giggling! Did I ever giggle so much in all my given days???!!!!???? Anyhow, I know what you're all thinking. That I am the over-protective, over-paranoid, in denial mom. (Usually you'd be right, but NOT this time!) I thought I might be overreacting as well, UNTIL we were about to leave and one of the other band moms working said, "You know, Noah really pulled all of those GIRLS in tonight at your window didn't he?!?!" Yes, he did! His reply at this comment, "Yes, yes I did. I am irresistible!" I am proud to say that with the help of his irresistible-ness, the band boosters were able to make a profit of $2,906.35!!!!! And, on a an even happier note, our football team had another GREAT win of 48-12!! We are now 5-0! Wahoo undefeated! GO MIAMI EAST VIKINGS GO!!!!
